Display of Alison Gott's memorial art exhibition in the foyer of the Douglas Shire Council Offices

A wide range of paintings and urban sketches from Alison Gott's memorial art exhibition, "Through Her Eyes", will be on display in the foyer of the Douglas Shire Council Offices for the month of November.   Included are many urban sketches of local Mossman and Port Douglas locations.  All art works are for sale.

Everyone is welcome to the opening night of the "Through Her Eyes" Exhibition - a memorial art exhibition of Alison Gotts' paintings and travel sketches.  Opening night at 6.30pm on Friday 18th October, and the exhibition will run until Saturday 26th October.

DAB Feature Wall for August/September - Jennifer Foster Hamilton

For the next month the back wall of the gallery will feature the art work of the very talented artist, Jennifer Foster-Hamilton.  Jennifer, who mainly works in oils, watercolor and gouache, is exhibiting a diverse range of her paintings.  There are large vibrantly colored canvases, exquisite florals and birds, and detailed urban sketches.

The Tutor is the talented Watercolour Artist, Gail Shaw, who will be sharing her knowledge and enthusiasm for Urban Sketching.  Gail will give an overview of urban sketching and the materials that can be used.  This session will appeal to all comers, those who are already actively involved with urban sketching, and also to those with no experience but are keen to get involved.

DAB's Feature Artist of the Month - Josephine Matthews

April 11, 2019
Josephine Matthews has been a DAB member for five years.  She started playing with mosaics learning how to cut and glue tiles.  At that time her granddaughter loved Disney Princesses, and asked if Josephine could mosaic Cinderella.  Josephine then began learning to paint with acrylics so that she could do the backdrops for her mosaics.  Josephine now has nine mosaiced Disney Princesses and various other beautiful artworks, which are on display in DAB's Gallery.  Please call into the Gallery (...

Artistic Endeavour

DAB’s Feature Wall - ‘Artistic Endeavour’

On now until end of April

 

Six of DAB’s very talented botanical artists were privileged to be selected to exhibit in ‘Artistic Endeavour’ an initiative of the Botanical Artists Society of Queensland (BASQ) in partnership with Museums and Galleries Queensland.  The exhibition travelled to selected regional galleries in QLD and northern NSW during 2021 and 2022 marking the 250th anniversary of Captain James Cook’s voyage on the HMB Endeavour and the legacy of Banks, Solander and Parkinson.

The DAB artists who participated in the exhibition were – Sandra Ford, Jennifer Foster-Hamilton, Colin Price, Inger Rowe, Liz Showniruk and Ellen Terrell.

The botanical artworks by these artists from the exhibition, are now on display in DAB’s gallery until the end of April.

DAB 2023 Exhibitions

DAB is planning three Art Exhibitions for 2023.  To enter artwork into an exhibition you must be a DAB member.  

1.  "Artful Abstraction" - Sat 6 May - Saturday 3 June
2.  "The Space Within" - Sat 9 Sept - Sat 7 Oct
3.  "2023 End of Year" - Sat 18 Nov - Sat 16 Dec

The first exhibition, "Artful Abstraction", is a theme with so many possibilities!
The deadline for artwork to be delivered to the gallery will be 4pm on Monday 1 May
